Variables · fill before sending

  • first_namePartner's first name, not the fund's.
  • fund_nameFund name, e.g. Lowercarbon, Congruent Ventures, Collaborative Fund.
  • portfolio_coA climate portfolio company the fund led or co-led in the last 18 months.
  • your_wedgeOne-line technical differentiator, specific not categorical.
  • decarbonization_metricVerified impact number with unit, e.g. '12,400 tCO2e/yr', '2.1 MW deployed', '$38/ton abated'.
  • pilot_proofWhere the metric was measured, e.g. '4 sites in PJM and ERCOT' or 'two EU utility pilots'.
  • traction_signalCommercial anchor, e.g. '$180k ARR from two IOUs' or 'signed framework deal with [utility]'.
  • policy_or_offtake_hookPolicy or offtake proof, e.g. 'IRA 45X eligibility' or 'signed offtake LOI for 18 months'.
  • round_sizeRound target, e.g. '$4M seed'.
  • committed_amountCapital already closed, e.g. '$1.2M'.
  • lead_or_angelWho committed, e.g. 'MCJ and two climate operators'.
  • memo_linkLink to a short memo or unit-economics page, not a deck PDF.
  • your_nameYour full name.
  • companyYour company name.
  • trl_levelTechnology Readiness Level 1-9. Only include if TRL is 5 or higher.

How to use it

  • Verify the metric before sending: climate partners will check third-party verification on any tCO2e claim, so use only numbers you can document (pilot reports, MRV vendor, audit).
  • Pick a real portfolio company: portfolio_co must be a recent fund investment with a specific angle you can add to, not a generic "I saw you invested in X".
  • Lead with pilots, not models: "we model 50,000 tCO2e/yr at scale" fails this template. Use verified, deployed numbers only.
  • Skip Calendly links: keep the meeting request as "20 minutes next week?" and let the partner propose a time.
  • Warm the sending domain first: send low volumes from the domain for at least two weeks before a campaign, per OpenVC deliverability guidance.
